Netflix’s “She’s Gotta Have it” Casting in Atlanta

Netflix is now casting power walkers, joggers, dog walkers and other featured roles for a scene filming this January 17th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Netflix has announced a 10 episode remake of the 1986 Spike Lee film, She’s Gotta Have it.  The filmed is set in Brooklyn, New York about twenty year old women balancing different relationships.  Lee will direct all 10 episodes of the series, which will star Anthony Ramos of “Hamilton.”

About Spike Lee

Spike Lee is an American film director, producer, writer, and actor.  He has produced over 35 films since 1983.  Lee’s movies exam race relations and urban crime and poverty.  He has received two Academy Award nominations and an Emmy.  His new project will surely turn some heads when it premiers on Netflix.  Lee and Netflix signed an exclusive deal to stream the first 10 episodes of his new project as soon as it is ready.

The casting call will be held at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple, located at 317 Clermont Ave in Fort Greene (not far from Lee’s home and production offices, where he’s been known to host a neighborhood block party or two).

Spike Lee is encouraging interested actors who can’t attend Monday’s casting call to send an “updated headshot, resume, and one recent non-professional photo”

Females = Hair Shorter Lengths & Bangs (SHORT HAIR / SHOULDER LENGTH AT THE LONGEST & SHORTER – ONLY)

2) 1980s MALE WALKING DOG (must have a dog)
Male / Ages 35 – 60 years / 80s Hair
Males = Hair Same Length All Around (no fades, or short sides)
Dog should be friendly / worked on another set before – please list dogs on set experiences

When you arrive at the audition location, it is likely that other actors and models will be there are as well. Try to stay focused on yourself and don’t worry about others or compare yourself to them.  You can only control how well you personally do, so don’t focus on anyone but yourself.  When you enter the audition, be courteous, friendly, and confident. Make eye contact with the people you are auditioning for and be yourself.

No matter the outcome, each audition is good practice for you in gaining experience in a tough industry. You will learn more about yourself as an actor or model and you will get the opportunity to meet many people in the industry this way.
