About
AMC is an American cable station that consists of films and original programming. Originally AMC stood for, American Movie Classics but the company has since put a lack of emphasis on the full name with their shift toward more original programming. Shows such as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Hell on Wheels are AMC’s staples. They are known as some of the best shows on television, competing directly with premium channels like HBO and Showtime.
Dietland, created by Martin Noxon, is a product of Skydance TV and AMC Studios. It is set against the backdrop of the beauty industry and the drama that comes with it. It follows Plum Kettle, an obese woman who is preparing for weight-loss surgery when her world is upturned by two rival feminist factions. Caught between old ideas and radical new extremes, Plum must decide for herself what it means to be a revolutionary as the “war of the sexes” becomes literal.
The show also features a character played by Julianna Margulies. She is most known for her role in The Good Wife on CBS. It was in that show where she won two Emmy Awards along with a Golden Globe and a Television Critics Association Award.
